Local Information

20 kilometres from La Manga is Cartagena, an ancient port founded by the Carthaginians in 221 BC, with the ruins of a Roman theatre and a number of archaeological museums. Inland from Cartagena, the countryside of Murcia, bordered by the dry, semi-desert plain of Almeria, winds its way towards the picturesque towns and villages of Lorca, Totana and Alhama.

The city of Murcia is the region's capital and lies 70 kilometres from La Manga Club. Its most important monument is the Cathedral, with the Episcopal Palace, the Casino and several churches all worth visiting.

Beaches
The La Manga Club resort has its own secluded Mediterranean cove, La Cala, located approximately ten minutes by car or shuttle bus from Bellaluz.

La Cala - La Manga Club Beach

There are numerous other beaches on the Mediterranean and Mar Menor coasts.  Close by, La Manga del Mar Menor, from which the resort gets its name, is the narrow strip of land that separates the Mediterranean from the Mar Menor (Europe's largest saltwater lagoon), which is over 22 kilometres long and stretches from the fishing village of Cabo de Palos to the salt flats of San Pedro del Pinatar.
The Mar Menor beaches are particularly popular with families due to the warm, shallow waters. The area is ideal for water sports such as sailing, snorkelling and scuba diving.
